Charlie’s Badge Frame

Posted on: 11 June, 2018 ML News

The framed badges were put together by my dad in his shed around 1989, he & mum were very proud that I had started ML Badges in 1986 and this hung in my mum and dad’s living room in Romford for many years and when they both later passed away it came to me, the very first badge I designed was ‘Bobby Bear’, third up from bottom, third in from left for Great Ormond Street Hospital Appeal, his later girlfriend Belinda Bear I created to raise more funds (top right), others shown – Pudsey Bear (only allowed on his bottom in those days), NatWest bank, Wild Turkey whiskey, Uncle Joe mints Wigan, many police customers and Rupert Bear for the RUC Widows & Orphans fund we supplied to Brian who was based at City of London nick, now retired, I drew about 100 different Rupert poses/themes over 20 years, in those days each design was outlined in metallic gold and silver pens (only available at WH Smiths) then infilled with Pantone pens, then posted to my customers, funny! it was and still is a passion of mine to this day. Today, we have smart Mac technology, allied to young, immensely talented people that head up our studio supplying customers literally from all over the world.
Probably influenced by my dad’s little picture, I started to frame every badge I designed, around 220 badges per frame and 17 frames later I stopped as literally I ran out of walls!!
